Floor Conversion tool allows to export structural floors as other kind of objects.

With this tool, it is possible to export floor as:

  • profiled panel (4 predefined types)
  • timber panel
  • fictitious shell
  • diaphragm
  • cover

Export as

Upon clicking on Floor Conversion (StruSoft tab | Tools panel), an Apply Floor Conversion dialog appears. One can chose to export a floor as one of the four predefined profiled panel types or as one of the remaining options (timber panel, fictitious shell, diaphragm, cover). The four predefined Hollow core types correspond to the four predefined hollow core sections available in the default Profiled plate library in FEM-Design.

Hollow core (profiled panels)

If one chooses to export floor as one of the hollow core profiles, following properties are exported:

  • Geometry (contour) of the floor
  • The selected hollow core profile
  • Span direction
  • Material

All the other parameters are set to default in FEM-Design.

Timber panel

In case one chooses to export floor as timber panel, only geometry (contour) of the floor is exported. All the other parameters are set to default in FEM-Design.

Fictitious shell

In case one chooses to export floor as fictitious shell, only geometry (contour) of the floor is exported. All the other parameters are set to default in FEM-Design.

Diaphragm

In case one chooses to export floor as diaphragm, only geometry (contour) of the floor is exported. All the other parameters are set to default in FEM-Design.

Cover

In case one chooses to export floor as cover, only geometry (contour) of the floor is exported. All the other parameters are set to default in FEM-Design. Supporting structures and load bearing directions need to be established in FEM-Design.

Shared parameter

The Floor Conversion is applied to floors as Shared parameters and is read-only. By default it is applied to both Floor and Analytical floor and is located under Structural Analysis tab. One can modify those default settings in the Project Parameters.

Using the Floor Conversion tool, requires presence of shared parameter file, into which, the new parameter can be added.

Using Floor Conversion tool

  1. Click on Floor Conversion (StruSoft tab | Tools panel) - an Apply Floor Conversiondialog will appear.
  2. Select one of the options from the drop-down list.
  3. Apply the desired conversion to selected floor(s) or to all floors in the model.
  4. Once applied, the floors will be exported to struxml according to their chosen conversion.
  5. In order to modify/edit the floor conversion, one has to reapply it on selected floor(s).
  • Select the floor(s) you want to modify and start the Floor Conversion tool.
  • The tool will display the current setting applied to the selected floor(s).
  • Now you can modify the settings.
