PREFAB 23.0.1

Last modified by Casper Egholm Hougaard on 2024/03/13 14:41

Following the release of PREFAB 23.0.1, to support FEM-Design 23 models, a couple of improvements to PREFAB are included.

Show utilization in 3D view

It is now possible to get element utilizations displayed directly in the 3D viewer. The function is activated in the checkbox in the upper toolbar.

When the feature is activated, the utilizations are displayed in the model. It is possible to show the utilization for all load combinations, or each load combination separately. This is done in the
dropdown menu.

Additionally, you can adjust the utilization interval you want to display allowing you to show, for example, elements utilized between 80-100%.

Add thickness to covers

Now you can add thickness to covers in the 3D viewer.

When thickness on covers are activated, they will cut into the walls that the cover is adjacent to.
This allows you to export walls with their actual geometry. Loads on the element will be adjusted to the new geometry. Further information about this feature can be found in the user manual.

Export to StruXML

PREFAB plastic calculations and FEM-Design results can now be directly exported to StruXML, streamlining workflows and improving data exchange.

This powerful integration streamlines your workflow by:
Saving time: Eliminate the need for manual data transfer and manipulation.
Improving accuracy: Reduce the risk of errors associated with manual data entry.
Enhancing efficiency: Consolidate all relevant data in a single, accessible file.
This export capability empowers engineers with a more robust and efficient workflow, facilitating informed decision-making throughout the structural design process.

Please note:
Equilibrium in Shells Only: Currently, we only support exporting if there is equilibrium in your shell element.
Results from columns, beams, and fictitious bars are not available yet.
Mesh Quality in FEM-Design: Shells with too coarse meshing in FEM-Design and with results from columns and beams will not work in this release.
Future Releases: These limitations will be addressed in upcoming updatese.

Enhanced element export clarity

The export of elements, along with their associated reactions from neighboring elements, has been enhanced for better clarity. Each reaction now includes an added comment detailing its origin.
Below is an example showcasing anchors, beams, and reactions. On the left are all elements adjacent to the wall, while on the right is the individual element export to FEM-Design.

Auto-Text layout: Avoid overlapping

A new algorithm has been introduced to prevent objects from overlapping in PDF files, significantly enhancing readability.
Displayed below is an image illustrating the difference.
