It is now possible to import FEM-Design edge connections library to Revit.

Save a FEM-Design Line connection library to struxml.

In Revit, Wall Edge Connections tool, it is now possible to import such library using the Import Library command. The new types of edge connections will appear in the drop down list of each of four releases. They can be now added to walls in Revit.

If you import another library to a model that already has some edge connections applied from another imported library, you will be asked to decide what to do with the existing edge connections in the model. The options are:

  • reset all edge connections to rigid value, so you can start from scratch,
  • keep all existing edge connections, but only if they also exist in the newly imported library; otherwise reset to rigid,
  • cancel the import of the new library and return to previous settings.

There is a new setting option to merge materials with the same name at mapping.

Struxml file can contain several materials that are of the same class e.g. C30/37 but have slightly different material data e.g. safety factors or other parameters from the application data. In such situations, each of those materials regardless of the same name, receives a different GUID (global unique identification number). That also means, that when importing such file to Revit, each of those materials will be recognized as a separate material and has to be mapped separately. If one uses automatic material creation, the corresponding Revit materials will be called subsequently C30/37, C30/37 2, C 30/37 3, etc.

An example of such situation when automatic mapping is chosen is shown below:

In this version of the plugin one can however, decided to merge the materials that have the same name, regardless of their application data parameters. Simply go to Settings and select Merge materials with the same name at mapping before you load a struxml file.

With this setting, the material mapping of the same file will look like this:

It is no longer required to save a Revit model before exporting it to struxml.

When trying to export a Revit model that is not saved, one will see a following warning message. It is advisable to save the model before the export however, one can choose Proceed without saving and continue the export without saving the model. This will also help in situations when the model has been saved in a cloud or some external drive, and that is not recognized by the plugin.

In some cases the beam rotation was not handled properly when importing elements to Revit.

In some very special cases the beam rotation was not properly recognized by the plugin, what resulted in Revit throwing an error message about missing / wrong rotation values at the import. This is fixed now.

There was an material error at importing CHS, KCKR, VCKR or KKR steel sections to FEM-Design.

There was an material error at importing cold formed CHS, KCKR, VCKR or KKR steel sections to FEM-Design that resulted in an error message at opening the struxml file. This is fixed now.
