Show only positive shapes in stability analysis
Rqd. as positive only option is added to Stability analysis setup dialog. If it is checked, program will calculate as many stability shapes as necessary to get required number of shapes with positive critical factor. Since it is an iterative method, maximum number of iteration steps can be set by the User in Max no. of iteration cell.
Example below shows the difference in the number of calculated shapes, depending if Rqd. as positive only option is checked or not.
New result types
Coloured surface results
Coloured surface reaction and Coloured surface connections result is implemented for better visualization of surface support and connection results.
Plastic condition
Plastic condition result visualize which plastic elements are in plastic/detached/elastic states.
Plasticity
Plasticity - First unstable state result shows displacements to help User localize the critical part(s) of the model that caused failure before the 100% load level was reached during plastic calculation.
Updated colour palette dialog
Some parameters in the the Surface, colour palette dialog are reorganized for a better overview.
Filtering of local minimum/maximum values
In many cases displaying local minimum/maximum numeric values gives too many values due to small, unimportant peaks. Filtering slide lets User decide on how big differences between result of neighbouring nodes he wants to consider as local minimum/maximum. It can be set both in Automatic numeric values dialog and Numeric value tool window.
Labelled sections
Labeled section is a new feature placed in the Analysis tab. Labelled section is a polyline with a name that can be used to list shell internal forces along it.
Naming
There are two ways, how to name a Labeled section
- manual - in the Name cell.
- automatic - if Automatic name option is checked. In this case, a shell should be selected first and its name will be set for the labelled section. Prefix and/or postfix can also be appended to it.
Name and font can be modified in Properties option. Position numbers are appended to Labelled sections, so all Numbering function can be used for them.
Results
New tables for listing shell internal forces along labelled sections are available in List tables dialog. It is possible to list the special values (e.g. minimum, maximum, average) of a labelled section and all values at certain points along it.
New options at listing results to Excel
In previous versions of FEM-Design, Excel templates used for listing tables into Excel identified load cases and combinations by their name. In FD18, one can decide, whether to identify load cases/combinations by name or by index. If index is chosen, Excel template should refer to load cases/combinations by “#[index number]”, for example “#3”.
Listing bar end forces
It is now possible to list Bar end forces.
Multi column selection in Table properties dialog
It is now possible to select more than one table column at once with the use of SHIFT button. This way, the same width can be easily set for a group of columns or they can be hidden together.
Procedure:
- Select the first column.
- Select the last column with SHIFT key.
